    Dear Dr. Khurana,
I went through your video at a site. I wasn’t sure if that was your Site so came back to your comment link. Here I am to let you know that I do support your Cause and understand the pain you underwent. I too have been tortured by my in-laws; a read that is yet to be posted here. I have braved it and walked out of my wedlock.
I have a few more issues that I need to address before taking them to task- which I surely would. Not out of vengeance but to set up an example and let everyone realize that at times ones own home becomes worse than a Slaughter House.
Meanwhile, I wish you luck and loads of courage.
    Luv

    Dear Rijo,
Thanks, I would like to clarify my feelings on the issue though. I am a strong advocate of a woman`s right to abort for e.g. after rape or if child has severe malformations.
However sex of the baby whether male or female is not a congenital abnormality or a malformation, which is incompatible to life. Hence I feel lets not confuse issues of gender based abortion with right to abort.

      October 24, 2012 7:27 am

      Dear savedaughters19,
But, why would rape or malformation change the value of a child’s life? How can we judge the value of a child for ANY reason? Being conceived in rape is also not a congenital abnormality. Some reasons for aborting may seem more “reasonable” at first, but if one looks deeper, we can see that how we “feel” about a child has nothing to do with that child’s worth. Their worth and value are inherent; not at all dependent on anyone else.

        November 5, 2012 9:55 am

Jeanne Marie, So sorry for the delayed reply. The law of the land identifies the circumstances where the birth of child will be traumatic to mother and the child. In case of rape. the child has not been conceived as a result of love between the mother and father. The Mother will look after the child throughout her life as an remembrance of the rape. The child will be looked down upon and hated by the mother and society.
However what we are talking upon here is the abortion because the child is a female. being a female is not a congenital anomaly. the child has been conceived between two mutually loving individuals. and being a female should not make it traumatic for the mother or the child to live thier life… or make it any different than had the child been a male.

Dear Dr. Khurana- thanks so much for the passionate plea you left on my blog after reading my own post about foeticide. I’ve just posted your comment and petition links (sorry, have had my own beautiful baby girl and didn’t realize your comment was waiting for approval!) What a courageous and inspiring story! I simply cannot believe nor stomach this insane attitude towards girls! I’ll be following your progress and please do let me know what more we can do to publicize your campaign. best wishes, anu anand.

dear dr. mitu and friends of dt.mitu, thanks for visiting my site and posting the petition as a reaction to my own plea to save the girl child and womanhood in the article-http://trinities.info/2012/03/31/princess-of-a-day/
it is very brave of dr. mitu to give birth to lovely daughters and fight for the cause of all the unborn daughters. i am a dentist and have always fought for the rights of women in my own small way-my protests in the extended family and my deptt. led to the birth of three lovely girls, who are pretty teenagers in college now. i wish dr. mitu all the best and support her petition.
thanks again….sorry for not using capital letters where required as my keyboard’s shift key isn’t working..

My name is Karin Kumar. I’m not an Indian women but had been married to an Indian man from a high cast. We lived in Germany and as I was ( and still are) very drawn to the beauty of the Hindhuism , I thought that in general his ideas where beautiful in being a house wife. Some year later I could see and learn that I had to go through what many Indian women has to go through. It is not easy when you are a full time mother and not being able to finance yourself .He compared me to Indian women and told me that any Indian women is better than me as they are always doing what the husband is saying and will cook at any time. My words to him were “I’m not a slave or property” I am a woman and most of all Human being. This made me wonder about Indian women and why they are not standing up ( I had these thoughts 20 years ago when he filled divorce) .

Through the internet I learned more and could understand the plight Indian women have to go through. In fact in some respect my daughter has to go through. She is never enough and not important for her Indian Daddy and he even does not bother to call her on her birthday. Of course it is quiet different when his son has birthday. She is suffering terribly under this as she was only raised by me and with equality values of men and women.

For me there is more suffering .. my Indian nieces left India to live in Dubai just because of what they experience in India. My heart was breaking when I read a facebook update of one of my nieces after the gang rape of “blessed Jyoti”.

I am ashamed to be Indian and I can’t live in India as a women as there is no way that I can live a normal life. Seeing the BBC documentary about the live of women in India I came across your plight and your fight against the society that sees women as property .

It made me happy to see that somebody is standing up and trying to make the changes for the women in the future . The girls that are still born and hopefully grow into beautiful strong women. If there is a way that I can help or that women internationally can help the women of India please let me know. If there is a facebook page please let me know too.Goddess bless to all Indian women and women on this planet

    Dr Khurana,

I came across your story on the documentary ‘It’s a Girl’ and felt compelled to write to you and tell you how much admiration and respect I have for your courageous efforts against discrimination towards women.
I write from the UK and although faced with some mild discrimination in my life, nothing compares to what is going on within these Eastern traditions and societies.

Women in western society were once considered inferior, they have been suppressed and discriminated against for many decades, but due to people like yourself A CHANGE HAS COME and women are now a force to be reckoned with, becoming more powerful and respected members of this world. What I am trying to say is – keep pushing, keep strong and never give up and things WILL change, and you will save women like your daughters and bring them up in a world where they are free to live, love, succeed and will not be considered inferior any more – they are no longer a gender but in fact a human being.

I wish you the best of luck in your campaign and if you need anything, please let me know.

    Regards,
    Cara

You are an inspiration. You are so brave and strong. It is women like you who change the world. The “big rock” you are pushing against sometimes seems immovable, but someone has to give it the first push. Many hands of many women will move it, in time.
